Calgon, Tiki Me Away

That pun doesn’t really work, right? I know. It’s terrible. I’m terrible.

What I really want to talk about is Hawaii. Where I really want to be is Hawaii.

The cool breezes, long walks on beaches (some of them more eventful than others), delicious seafood. Oh Hawaii, I miss you!

So when Bohanan’s announced they have a selection of Tiki drinks, I had to try them, if only to see if they could actually transport me to Honolulu, where everyone wears light, airy clothes and drinks mai tais.

The verdict? The drinks are great. And elaborate and yummy. I recommend them. If you close your eyes, you can imagine you’re at a luau or watching a sunset. That’s what all good food and drinks should do right? Remind you of something you experienced, connect you to a memory? These succeeded.

Here are the recipes. But honestly, if you’re in San Antonio, just go try them at Bohanan’s for yourself.

For those who haven’t been, Bohanan’s is a steakhouse downtown, but it also has a super swanky bar. The dining room is upstairs and the bar is downstairs. Don’t be put off by all the dark wood and people in suits – anyone who wants to experience good food and drinks are welcome. In my experience, the bartenders are there to help you out. If you know what you want, that’s cool. If you don’t, talk to them a bit about what you like and you’ll see that they can create something great for you.
